This is a small community server. Most of what keeps it pleasant is people being decent to each other, not rules. This page exists so that when something does go wrong, you know what happens and why.
What isn't allowed
The list is in the terms of service. The short version: nothing sexual involving minors, no threats or harassment, no encouraging self-harm, nothing illegal, no malware or phishing, no posting other people's work or private information without the right to, no ban evasion.
How something gets looked at
Anyone can report a message. In the iOS app, press and hold it and choose Report. On the web, tell an administrator directly. Reports reach a human and are looked at within 24 hours.
We don't monitor everything posted. A small server doesn't have the people for it, and reading everyone's conversations would be worse than the problem. What we do is act on what's reported and on what we see.
What we do about it
Depending on what happened and whether it has happened before:
- a word about it, and the content removed;
- a temporary mute or removal from a channel;
- a suspension;
- a permanent ban.
Anything involving sexual content with minors, credible threats of violence, or malware skips the ladder and results in an immediate ban. Sexual content involving minors is also reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, as federal law requires, and the content is preserved for them rather than simply deleted.

If you think we got it wrong
Write to the address below and say so. Include what happened and when. A person will read it and answer. We'd rather reverse a bad call than defend it.
Blocking, which is yours rather than ours
You don't need us to stop seeing someone. In the iOS app, press and hold one of their messages and choose Block; their messages disappear for you immediately, and Settings lists everyone you've blocked so you can undo it. Blocking is separate from reporting — you can do either, or both.
Other people's servers
The Haven for iOS app connects to any Haven server. This policy covers haven.thedonutshoppe.com only. On someone else's server, the person running it decides what is allowed and what gets removed, and a report about content there is passed to them, because they are the only one who can act on it.
